History
-following British Wars > Popular Revolution (1827-9) Britain retains it
-despite planter panic
-slavery successfully abolished
-and to ensure there's a ready labor force a lot of laborers brought in through Gibraltar to reinforce this
-not that this means they're all Gibraltarian, simply that the importing is done through this city
-they came from variously Spain, Italy, and Portugal (esp. Madeira), and long term they come to speak creolized French
-though there's a special intention to bring Protestant converts a lot of them are in practice Catholics
-1830s and 1840s is era of change as this labor force changes
-and a conspiracy to make Trinidad into an American slave state does not reach same extremes as it does in Jamaica
-eventually laborers imported in rising numbers from India in the later 19th century
-and Trinidad is 13% Indian or so by the modern day
